DO YOU REALLY BELIEVE THAT WHAT YOU BELIEVE IS REALLY REAL?

The Truth Project is an in-depth Christian worldview experience. This dvd-based small group study wrestles with questions like, “Who is God?” , “What is truth?”, “Where does evil come from?” If you’re ready to have your mind blown and the way you live your life challenged, plug into this summer study.

We’ll meet Wednesday nights at the church office beginning June 10th from 6-8pm. Each week we’ll watch a challenging message and then have an opportunity to discuss the ideas in group breakouts.

This event is open to anybody, so bring your spouse, friend, neighbor, the guy that sticks the pizza menus in your door, etc…

If you’re up for the challenge, register Sunday at the Next Steps table in the lobby or contact Sue Blount at sblount@thecrossingonline.com.

Is God Green?

This weekend, I found myself washing off a paper plate at a friend’s house so i could throw it away! These friend’s of mine are part of neighborhood recycling program – paper and plastic go in one bin, metal in another and food scraps in a third. I don’t know if the plate really had to be washed before we threw it away, but my friend told me i had to. He may have just been messing with me…but, these days, you never know.

I have a hard time figuring out the role Christian’s are supposed to play in ecology and conservation. Are you as confused by the whole thing as I am? Click here to read an essay from Mars Hill Church regarding this topic. Then return here and click on the “leave a comment” section under this post and let me know what you think.

Anger always reveals other mitigating factors going on down in the “springs of life.” In that sense, anger is a very helpful warning light on the “dashboard” of life.

We shouldn’t be paranoid or unduly sensitive about anger. Everyone has a capacity for it. Most of us have very normal (even healthy) flashes of anger when we witness cruelty, injustice, betrayal and other transgressions of people. God created our emotions. Anger certainly has a righteous role.

But burning or prolonged anger is a warning light that something is out of balance in life. read more…
